Ingredients: 

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup applesauce 
  • 1/4 cup jarred tomato sauce 
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 
  • Optional toppings: canned chicken, garlic scapes, bell peppers, etc. 

Method: 

1. Combine self-rising flour and applesauce in a large bowl and mix until a dough forms. 2. Roll out dough into a thin circle or oval and set aside. 

3. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Gently add dough and cook, flipping halfway through, until golden-brown, about 3-5 minutes per side. 

4. Top flatbread evenly with tomato sauce, cheese and additional toppings, if desired. 5. Reduce heat to low and cover skillet with a large pot lid until cheese is melted, about 3 minutes. 

6. Remove from heat, slice and serve.
